Burnaby Mountain and Barnet Highway
Start with the climb toward Burnaby Mountain, then use Barnet Highway for a flowing return toward the city. The elevation change makes the ride feel longer than it is. Watch for wildlife, changing light and commuter traffic near the intersections.
Iona Beach from central Vancouver
The route toward Iona Beach is flat and exposed, with long sight lines and a very different feeling from downtown streets. Wind can be stronger near the water, so this is a useful ride for checking how the motorcycle feels at steady speed.
Belcarra and Port Moody
A loop through Port Moody toward Belcarra combines slower residential roads with forested sections and water views. Keep speeds conservative because driveways, cyclists and damp shaded corners can appear quickly.
Steveston and the Richmond river roads
For riders south of Vancouver, Steveston is an easy destination with several ways to approach along the river. It is more relaxed than technical, making it well suited to a short ride after work or a first outing following maintenance.
Check the motorcycle before the light disappears
Confirm tire pressure, lights, chain condition and fuel before leaving. Evening temperature drops can change tire feel, and a weak charging system becomes more obvious when headlights and heated accessories are in use.
